Terms of service
Your membership buys you a seat in a loom and the run of the community calendar. Be kind, be discreet, show up when you can. Leave whenever you like. Last updated August 22, 2026.
What is said in a room stays in the room.
Never record, screenshot or forward a call yourself. Some community events are recorded by us, and always labelled.
No selling, recruiting, preaching at people or asking members for money.
No cruelty, slurs or harassment. Hosts enforce this kindly and firmly.
Give everyone the floor. Nobody has to take it.
Your seat is yours alone. Do not pass your link to anyone else.
You must be 18 or over and able to agree to these terms. Some rooms have their own guideline, such as our senior looms being for members 65 and up, and we will tell you plainly if a room is not the right fit.
A seat in a loom of roughly 4 to 8 members, a hosted one hour call each week, and access to the club calendar: the life story hour, the joke jar, the member led lessons, the drop in open rooms and the interest circles. Plus your loom's private members' room between calls, and a help line answered by a person.
Calls and events run over Zoom, and you dial in from the link on your member calendar. You need your own device and internet connection. We do not provide either.
Your weekly loom hour is not recorded. Community-wide events such as the life story hour, member-led lessons and the joke jar may be recorded, transcribed using AI, and used by us to create articles, guides, social posts and other content that promotes Friend Loom.
Every recorded event is labelled as recorded on the calendar and announced by the host before it starts. Attending a labelled event means you agree to be recorded in it, and you are always free to skip it, keep your camera off, or stay quiet. By taking part you grant us a licence to use that recording and transcript to produce and distribute content, with the limits below.
Published content uses first names or no names by default and strips identifying details. We ask for your written permission before publishing anything that identifies you, quotes you at length, or uses your face or voice. You may withdraw at any time: tell us and we will cut you from anything unpublished and edit or remove what is already out, as far as it is technically possible to do so. Recording an event yourself is still not allowed. Full detail is in the privacy policy.
We place you in a loom using what you told us at signup and a human's judgement. If the fit is wrong, tell us after any call and we will reseat you free, as often as it takes. We may also move members, change a room's day or time, or close a room that has become too small to work, and we will give you notice and a new seat when we do.
Your subscription is billed monthly in advance to the card on your account, until you cancel. Current rates are on our pricing page. No signup fee, no contract, no minimum term. If a payment fails we will try again and email you before anything happens to your seat. Prices can change, and existing members get at least 30 days' notice by email before a change applies to them.
Cancel in two clicks in your account, effective at the end of the billing month you have already paid for. No phone maze and no retention script. If something went genuinely wrong, such as we could not seat you or your room never met, write to the help line and we will refund the month. We do not refund weeks you simply did not attend, because your seat was held for you.
You can pay for someone else's membership. You are the customer for billing, and they are the member. Their loom, their attendance and anything they say stays private from you. Cancelling a gift ends the membership at the end of the paid month, and we tell the member so it is not a surprise.
The house rules above are the whole code. Hosts can mute, remove or end a call to protect a room. Serious or repeated breaches, and anything that makes a room unsafe, end your membership without a refund of the current month. We will tell you why. Members can also report anything concerning to a real person, and we respond fast.
Friend Loom is company, not care. Hosts are trained conversation keepers, not therapists, doctors, social workers or crisis counsellors. Nothing said in a loom is medical, legal or financial advice. If you are in crisis, please contact your local emergency number or a crisis line, and tell your host if you would like us to help you find one.
What you post in the members' room stays yours, and you give us permission to show it to the members of that room. We do not use anything you posted in marketing unless you have said yes in writing. Recordings of labelled events are covered by section 2a instead, and any story on this site that identifies a member is published with their permission.
We work hard to be there every week, but video platforms and internet connections fail sometimes. If a call cannot happen we will reschedule or credit it. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the previous three months. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
If we change anything that matters, we email every member at least 30 days before it takes effect. Staying a member after that date means you accept the new terms. If you would rather not, cancel and we part on good terms.
