The community

Not a call you attend. A community you belong to.

Friend Loom is a private online community for people who want real connection. You share your stories, you follow the members whose lives interest you, and you join as many events as you like from your computer, phone or tablet. Members lead most of them, so the calendar changes every month. Nobody phones you, and nobody minds if you sit a week out.

Your people

Follow the members you click with

Every member has a page inside the club: where they are from, what they know about, the stories they have told. Follow anyone and you will see when they post or host something. Private to the community, invisible to the open internet.

Sharing

Tell your story properly

Post the long version: where you grew up, the job nobody knows about, the year everything changed. Members read it, ask about it, and remember it next time you speak.

Standing groups

Circles for the things you love

Smaller rooms built around one thing: books, cards, walking, genealogy, veterans, caregivers. Join as many as you want, or start the one you wish existed.

Member led

Anyone can host an event

Put your own event on the community calendar: a hymn sing, a trivia night, a walk and talk, a lesson in the thing you are best at. We help you run it and fill the room.

Everyday

A quiet room, always on

Photos, recipes, the finished puzzle, a thinking of you. Conversation carries on between events, with no feed to scroll and no likes to chase.

Somebody notices

You are missed when you are gone

Birthdays get sung to and someone notices when you miss the events week after week.

Events all month long, most of them member led.

Join from your computer, phone or tablet, or dial in by phone.

A regular rhythm every week, plus whatever members put on the calendar this month. Come to one, come to six.

Your loom hour · weekly

The same 4 to 8 people at the same hour, hosted, so it never turns into an awkward silence.

Life story hour · weekly

One member takes the floor and tells their story. Everyone else listens and asks good questions.

One thing I learned · weekly

A member teaches the community something useful: sourdough, birding by ear, reading a Medicare letter.

Joke jar · weekly, 20 minutes

Everybody brings one joke. Groaners are not only allowed, they tend to win.

Open rooms · most mornings

Coffee hours with no agenda. Stay five minutes or fifty, camera off if you like.

Member events · all month

Trivia, hymn sings, garden tours, film clubs, birthday parties. Whatever the community decides to run.

Fair questions about the money

Why isn't it free?

Free social products sell your attention and your data to advertisers, that's exactly the machine that made everyone lonelier. Your $25 pays hosts and keeps the rooms private. We advertise Friend Loom to find new members, but advertisers never get your information. You're the customer, not the product.

How do I cancel?

Two clicks in your account on community.friendloom.com, effective at the end of your billing period. No phone maze, no retention scripts. Your loom will simply miss you.

Is there a contract or signup fee?

No. $25 a month or $270 a year, and that's the entire price list. The annual plan is a discount, not a lock-in.

What about the rooms that aren't open yet?

Waitlists are free, and waitlist members get first pick of seats plus founding-member pricing when their room opens. Find your room →
