The hardest part of loneliness after 65 isn't the big empty holidays. It's the ordinary Tuesday nobody calls. Friend Loom gives you a standing weekly video call with the same 4–8 people, a small circle that learns your stories, asks about your garden, and notices when you're not there.
If you can answer a video call from your daughter, you're qualified.

The Tuesday Two O'Clock
meets in 2 days · 6 of 8 seats filled
“The phone only rings when it's the pharmacy.”
Sound familiar? Half our members said exactly this. In a loom, Tuesday rings, and it's people who know you.
“I don't want to be a burden on the kids.”
You won't be, because your week will have its own life in it. Members tell us their family calls got better once they had their own news to share.
“I'm no good with computers.”
One link, one big green button. Every event runs on Zoom, and there is a practice room open any time to test your camera. A real human answers our help line.
Your standing hour
First 10 minutes
The room fills up. Hellos, weather, who baked what. Your host, Dee, makes sure nobody's mic is muted.
The middle 40
One good question, “what's a rule you're glad you broke?”, and the hour disappears. Everyone gets the floor; nobody has to take it.
Last 10 minutes
Loose ends and next week's plan. Somebody promises to find that recipe. You will hear about it Thursday in the loom's private room, or at the joke jar on Friday.
The community
Friend Loom is a private online community for people who want real connection. You share your stories, you follow the members whose lives interest you, and you join as many events as you like from your computer, phone or tablet. Members lead most of them, so the calendar changes every month. Nobody phones you, and nobody minds if you sit a week out.
Every member has a page inside the club: where they are from, what they know about, the stories they have told. Follow anyone and you will see when they post or host something. Private to the community, invisible to the open internet.
Post the long version: where you grew up, the job nobody knows about, the year everything changed. Members read it, ask about it, and remember it next time you speak.
Smaller rooms built around one thing: books, cards, walking, genealogy, veterans, caregivers. Join as many as you want, or start the one you wish existed.
Put your own event on the community calendar: a hymn sing, a trivia night, a walk and talk, a lesson in the thing you are best at. We help you run it and fill the room.
Photos, recipes, the finished puzzle, a thinking of you. Conversation carries on between events, with no feed to scroll and no likes to chase.
Birthdays get sung to and someone notices when you miss the events week after week.
A regular rhythm every week, plus whatever members put on the calendar this month. Come to one, come to six.
Your loom hour · weekly
The same 4 to 8 people at the same hour, hosted, so it never turns into an awkward silence.
Life story hour · weekly
One member takes the floor and tells their story. Everyone else listens and asks good questions.
One thing I learned · weekly
A member teaches the community something useful: sourdough, birding by ear, reading a Medicare letter.
Joke jar · weekly, 20 minutes
Everybody brings one joke. Groaners are not only allowed, they tend to win.
Open rooms · most mornings
Coffee hours with no agenda. Stay five minutes or fifty, camera off if you like.
Member events · all month
Trivia, hymn sings, garden tours, film clubs, birthday parties. Whatever the community decides to run.
Yes. Every room has a trained host, your weekly loom hour is never recorded, there are no public profiles, and nobody can join your loom without being seated by us. Some bigger community events are recorded so we can turn them into articles, and those are always labelled on the calendar and announced before they start. No strangers, no ads in the community, no data selling. How recordings work →
Tell us after any call and we'll reseat you in a different loom, free, no questions and no awkwardness, we handle it.
Any tablet, computer, or smartphone made in the last ten years. We send one Zoom link. You tap it to dial in. That is the whole procedure, and the practice room is open whenever you want a dry run.
Happily, it's how many members arrive. Send them to our family & friends page; they can gift a membership in about three minutes.
Cancel any time. The first hello is the hardest part, and we'll be right there for it.
